The Watchtower and Salvation
Scripture teaches that salvation is by Grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone apart from our works. However, the Watchtower Society teaches just the opposite in that it is a works based religion reducing eternal life to a reward for working for the Society going door to door and for membership in the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society
In the article "working hard for the reward of eternal life" the Watchtower Society makes their case for a "works" based salvation.
Working Hard for the Reward of Eternal Life
The Watchtower, August 15, 1972, p. 491
However, what does Scripture have to say about eternal life?
Romans 4:1-8 states that it is by faith:
1 What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh?
2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.
3 For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness."
4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.
5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,
6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes
righteousness apart from works:
7 " Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered;
8 Blessed is the man to whom the LORD shall not impute sin."
New King James Version.
Attitude V. Faith in Christ.
Scripture is clear that the entrance into the kingdom of God is through Christ and not my attutude toward those "in the truth". The TRUTH
is that I will never treat my brother as I ought, I will ALWAYS fall short and in the sight of God this is sin deserving of God's
wrath. ONLY throgh Jesus Christ do I have hope.
"Your attitude toward the wheatlike annointed brothers of Christ and the treatment you accord them will be the determining factor as to whether you go into everlasting life."
The Watchtower, August 1, 1981, p. 26
"What does God require of those who will reside forever upon his Paradise earth? Jesus Christ identified a first requirement when he said in prayer to his Father: This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of
the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ. Many have found the second requirement more difficult. It is to obey Gods laws The third requirement is that we be associated with Gods channel, his organization. The fourth
requirement is connected with loyalty. God requires that prospective subjects of his Kingdom support his government by loyally advocating his Kingdom rule to others."
The Watchtower, February 15, 1983, p. 12
